A wet St Mary's Caterham and Hartsfield Manor wedding
Taking a break from our seemingly non ending 2015 wedding backlog catch up, here's a more recent wedding from November.
We had met Tom and Susie from their pre wed shoot in early October in the pretty Morden Hall Park on a sunny Sunday morning that was simply beautiful with its rich palette of autumnal colours on display...fast forward to a stormy Saturday accompanied by torrential rain (though as they say, rain on your wedding day is good luck).
Susie though was all smiles at her parents and no one even hinted at the weather...I am sure the champagne helped... onto the attentive ushers standing in the wet ready with their umbrellas to greet guests at St Mary's Church in Caterham. After the marriage ceremony it was a dash for the wedding car as we decided to hold off for a possible confetti throwing opportunity back at the reception.
Then onto the lovely Hartsfield Manor, a venue we had been to for a wedding only two weeks previous and though there was plenty of room for guests to mingle in the large hall and the Terrace Room (always a good back up plan to have in hand for bad weather) we were hoping that we could still get everyone outside for the group wedding pictures and confetti before the start of the wedding breakfast.
The weather forecast said it would become clear around 3pm and sure enough, the rain and the wind stopped and it miraculously brightened up.
So for our lovely newlywed couple we were able to get the confetti and group pictures and after Susie donned her bridal wellingtons, always a great sight to see, we had a fun and romantic walk across the wet and muddy lawn.
A great fun day and Susie and Tom never stopped smiling...with a big happy Irish contingent making sure the celebrations kept to a high level.
