A brief History Greyfriars House
The Greyfriars Estate was established by the American playwright Julian Sturgis in 1896 who commissioned Charles Voysey to build him a mansion in the spectacular setting of the beautiful Surrey Hills. Charles Voysey, initially a designer of Arts and Crafts style wallpaper and fabrics later gained great renown for designing country houses. His eye for detail meant that as well as designing buildings he also designed the interiors and furnishings.
Surrey wedding photographer opportunities at Greyfriars House
Today Greyfriars House, which was originally named Merlshanger, retains many of the original Voysey designs and as well as being a Grade ll listed building it is a true gem of a Surrey wedding venue, offering wonderful wedding photography opportunities tucked away up in the beautiful Surrey Hills.
With its stone mullioned windows and high ceilings along with rich wood panelled rooms, we love this venue for its wonderful design details, courtesy of the designer Charles Voysey. In addition its luxurious deep pile carpet and funky, quirky style of furniture and ambience all provide a great setting for some unique and memorable wedding photography.
Outside in the lovely stepped gardens there are great vantage points we know for getting those truly romantic wedding photographs and all with spectacular views. We certainly rate this lovely Surrey wedding venue, especially with its friendly and welcoming staff.
