Pembroke Lodge Wedding Photography
If you are looking for an experienced Pembroke Lodge wedding photographer then look no further.
As a preferred and recommended Pembroke Lodge wedding photographer, I get the wonderful opportunity to photograph so many lovely weddings here every year, in all seasons, so I know the best vantage points for beautiful, romantic and fun pictures whatever the conditions.
Whether it's under the trees amongst the daffodils in spring, walking through the beautifully scented picturesque gardens in summer...or just taking in the ever changing colours of autumn when the trees turn all shades of golden yellow, orange and red.
Pembroke Lodge - A fascinating history
Situated in 11 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens in the heart of Richmond Park, Pembroke Lodge started life in the 1750s as The Lodge, a single room cottage inhabited by a mole catcher. It was later enlarged and renamed Hill Lodge and in 1787 it was granted to the Duchess of Pembroke who added a Georgian wing to it.
In 1847 it was passed onto the then Prime Minister Lord John Russell who used it to conduct business affairs and entertain such well-known writers as Dickens, Thackeray, Tennyson, and Longfellow. It was later to become the home of Bertrand Russell, the famous philosopher and mathematician who grew up there between 1876 and 1894.
During the 2nd World War it became a Regimental HQ and then a government-run tea room. The Hearsum family took over the lease of Pembroke Lodge in 1997 and along with comprehensive restoration work began collecting thousands of fascinating artifacts connected with Pembroke Lodge and Richmond Park. The final phase of the restoration work involves the proposed setting up of a visitor information centre to house all these finds in the derelict land that is adjacent to the current car park.
Today, in addition to its popular tea-rooms, the well established Pembroke Lodge wedding venue is a highly regarded and very sought after place to get married.
Pembroke Lodge wedding photographer opportunities
There are two Pembroke Lodge wedding rooms, The Belvedere and The Russell Suite, both of which have beautiful outside ceremony options for the summer months.
The Belvedere Suite, situated at the back on the right-hand side of Pembroke Lodge seats up to 140 guests for the marriage ceremony and is blessed with an abundance of natural light from the terrace window side.
After the newlywed couple walks down the aisle as husband and wife, accompanied by the throwing of confetti, they exit directly onto the lovely terrace for celebratory drinks and canapés.
This area is a great space for guests to enjoy the wonderful views and atmosphere and on a warm day provides plenty of opportunities for a relaxed and informal style of reportage wedding photography.
When the weather isn't great for being out on the terrace then guests can move over to The Soane Room which is ideal for guests whilst The Belvedere Suite is being turned around for the wedding breakfast.
After the wedding speeches guests can return outside or to The Soane Room whilst the room is turned around for the evening celebrations.
The Russell Suite, situated up on the first floor is perfect for more intimate weddings with a capacity of up to 70 guests and again is blessed with plenty of natural light from two sides ensuring wonderful coverage during the marriage ceremony.
During the room turnaround, guests have access to the picturesque gardens at the front and the special enclosed drinks area around the side, and when the weather isn't great then there is also exclusive access to the adjoining Bertrand Russell Rooms and bar, a pleasant and intimate space with wonderful scenic views.
With the wedding breakfast over, guests can move to the Bertrand Russell Rooms for the evening celebrations with dancing in The Phantom Room.
Having captured weddings here in all seasons we know the best vantage points for stunning, natural wedding pictures.
Whether that's between the distinctive white-pillared main entrance or under the trees in amongst the daffodils and tulips in spring...
Or walking through the beautifully scented blooms in the picturesque gardens at the front during summer...
Or at any time of the year down on the terrace with its wonderful views over Surrey and to the City of London.
We love working at this delightful venue, with its welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff, and our experience allows us to make the most from the beautiful setting resulting in a classic and memorable collection of wedding photographs.
